"Average" Cost

Traditionally cruise lines advertised their lowest fare for the lowest category of cabin....say "Inside $399." Also traditionally cruise lines offer a lower fare for 3rd and 4th passenger in the same cabin. So a quad cabin, one that can accommodate 4 passengers, may have a $399 price each for passengers 1 and 2, but a $299 price for the 3rd and the 4th passenger. Now Carnival, in its infinite advertising wisdom has decided to quote an 'average' family-of-four price for a quad as "$349 per person." This is just an example of course. I don't understand the logic since Carnival is already the low price leader....if that's what you want. Advertised prices for most cruise lines include port charges but not "government and misc. fees." We have always quoted travelers the total cost per cabin, and will continue to do so.
